A Message from the President

1998 marked the humble beginning of our toilet crusade. Since then, we have initiated many activities with other crusaders such as government agencies, legislators, building developers, facility managers and cleaning contractors in our efforts to sustain clean public toilets.

The SARS period in 2003 had everyone on our toes and heightened Singaporeans’ awareness of public health. Together with NEA, we took the opportunity to launch the Happy Toilet Programme (HTP), a set of stringent benchmarks for the design, cleanliness and maintenance of public toilets.

Outreach and education is also one of our active areas. Our Happy Toilet Seminar series is a hit with business decision makers, not to mention the Happy Toilet School Education (HTSE) programme, which to-date have reached out to two-thirds of the Primary & Secondary Schools in Singapore.

This year, we are proud to launch ‘LOO Express’ - a quarterly e-newsletter to keep partners and supporters like you informed of our latest activities and any other interesting toilet-related news.

C.O.E. - We’re not talking about cars here. It’s about the Community, Outreach & Education activities that RAS staff has been busy with lately. Check it out in LOOney News!

Can’t believe that a school toilet can be that beautiful? Take a look at LOOs in Action! We are pleased to share with you the successful Happy Toilet School Education (HTSE) project at Xishan Primary School where the students delicately transformed their once humble toilets into character development-themed ones.

As for what’s up next for RAS in the coming months, you can always find out in LOOking Ahead!

Hear what the HTSE team has to say about their personal experiences at work at Friends of LOO!

Toilet is Everyone’s Business. To achieve clean public toilets, it is essential for all to participate and become stakeholders.

It doesn’t matter if you are representing an organization or are an individual. We welcome your participation in our activities as a sponsor, partner or volunteer. The first and simplest thing which you could do as a responsible toilet user is to send us your feedback on public toilets. Sms us. Email us. Talk to us.

Together, let’s make public toilets another icon of Singapore’s star quality!
